What is Git?

open-source distributed version control system. It keeps track of projects and files as they change over time, a staggering number of software projects rely on Git for version control.

Why to use Git?

1-Snapshots(Version control). 2-Local Operations(You can work offline and update pages later). 3-Tracking Changes(Track who made the change and what he/she did). 4-Minimize possibility of loss data.

Download Git

Git can be installed in three ways: 1-Install as a package 2-Install via another installer 3-Download and compile the source code.

Important Commands

create a copy of an existing Git repository from a particular server by using the clone command with a repository’s URL:

git clone https://github.com/test

Track one file only by using the following format:

git add filename

ommit the changes and record what you did within the commit message:

git commit -m “made change x,y,z”

push changes to a remote repository.

git push origin master
